Becoming A Person Of Value Will Generate Leads Online For YouHow To Be A Person of Value To Generate Leads Online

There are so many people online in any given minute who are touting some lame excuse why you should join their business without giving any real thought about what it takes to generate leads online as a way of recruiting.  It’s especially pervasive on Facebook where newbies or misled marketers spam other people’s walls, send unsolicited email blasts to the mail boxes of newly acquired “friends,” or just generally make way too many posts about their junk.  Typically, this is done with no regard to anything except getting money out of your wallet.  This is generally enough to annoy most people and for others, it’s a way to get “unfriended” not to mention getting kicked out of FB groups.  I’ve seen it over and over again.

So, how do you become a person of value to hopefully generate leads online?  First, and perhaps most easy, is to find a product or service that most people do not already have and give it away.  Now, there are different ways to “give away” things, but one that is commonly used is to offer it in exchange for a name and an email address.  This is commonly done by way an “opt in box.”  Opt in boxes allow an interested person to give their name and information to you in exchange for the “free” item.  There is nothing wrong with this method at all and it is generally accepted.  If you need to add to your list, use this method.  Just be prepared, however, to get a certain percentage of bogus names and numbers because more and more people are becoming aware of this method and they will put junk in your opt in box just to get your free stuff.  They aren’t looking for relationships and they certainly aren’t people you would want to recruit anyway.

Other Ways to Generate Leads Online By Giving Value

Another way to become a person of value which leads to being able to generate leads online is purely through helping other people solve problems.  I have been helped numerous times online by people who have sensed my past anquish, curiosity or other emotion that has roused their consciousness.  Whether you want to say they “came to my rescue” or simply helped someone in need is up to you.  What I learned, however, is that when people genuinely offer help and then genuinely give it hoping for nothing in return, you can be attracted to them.  Not in a loving sense, of course, but in a sense of trust.  You may find yourself asking, what’s in it for them?  You’ll soon find yourself answering… “nothing.”  This person is helping me and neither asking for nor expecting anything in return.  That, my friend, is powerful stuff.

I’ll warn you now, however, that if you allow someone to open themselves up to you for you to then turn around and abuse that trust, it won’t last long.  I promise.  If you start with the end in mind of simply turning this person into a prospect,  it will not work.  You MUST be willing to give of yourself completely unselfishly and make yourself think of nothing more than that person’s well being in order for this to work.  Another warning, however… this does not lead to instant payoff.  So, don’t expect it.  And… if you push for it… it could backfire.

This is probably the cheapest way to generate leads online

Giving away a product in exchange for a tool or a course or a free gift is a great way to increase your value.  This could potentially cost some money, depending on what it is you want to “give away.”  Giving your time, consideration, expertise and help usually costs nothing.  It can lead to lasting relationships which can, in turn, be developed into professional relationships.  In this model, you really have nothing to lose except maybe some of your time, but you could potentially have much to gain.  Furthermore, proving yourself to be a real person of value is going to help you generate leads online that could prove to be life changing.

Great recommendations Joe! I like to refer to this as being a “Baker” instead of an “eater”. A “Baker” believes in abundance and giving bread away. The “eaters” are all about what is in it for them.

I think the more bread we give away the more bread we will make…know what I mean ;)

    Great post Joe!

Giving value certainly makes you more valuable. People will just want to be around you because you are a giver. Online this is called ‘social equity’.

And the more ‘social equity’ you have the more money you will make. As you mentioned there some very smart and effective ways to do this.

    Thanks!

    Terry

I like the diff approaches, its v imp to be clear on who you are and what you do best. Nothing beats living from a place of authenticity. I, for one, believe in sending out great vibes into the universe for free-cause it serves me to be in someones good thoughts :) .

When I was growing up in rural NC we helped our neighbors in need because it was simply the right thing to do. Now our neighborhood is worldwide and it is still the right thing to do.

So true Anna. That’s a great way to put it. Maybe it’s now the worldwide “neighborhood!”

Hey Joe great post. You are absolutely right, giving value to someone to help them succeed are great ways. Be selfless and expecting nothing in return can be the hardest part for people.

The selfless part throws many of us for a loop. A person must get past that and have no other motive for it to truly “work.” Thanks for commenting.
